Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Gal 6:2) At some time, we will all face difficulties and struggles in this life. And Christians may face more trials than others, because of our allegiance to Jesus Christ. For the Lord said that … because you are not of the world, but I [Jesus] chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (John 15:19b) The apostles later recognised a similar thing when they recorded that “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:22) It is so important to realise that we do not face these difficulties alone. Firstly, the Lord, himself, will be with us: ...and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:20b) This gives us great encouragement and a place to turn even in the most stressful and trying of situations. But, in addition to His presence, we all have a responsibility to help one another as the occasion arises. Not that we should by busy-bodies interfering in each others lives, but as our attention is drawn to a need or struggle that one of our brothers and sisters is having, we have a duty to assist them in any way we can. We are no longer responsible just for our own safety and success, but also for the well being of those that have also put there trust in Christ. We know that these trials are only for a relatively short time, for when we reach our final destination ... God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. (Rev 21:4) But until that day arrives, let us ensure that each one of our brothers and sisters is encouraged to press on in full assurance of faith.
